From Iron Chef Canada to Hawkers Market, you will have the opportunity to experience Chef Alex Chen’s craft. Culinary craft that has yielded 17 Gold Medals/first places out of 19 competitions Alex has entered! Including gold medal in the 2018 Canadian Culinary Championships and receiving the Chef of the Year award from Vancouver Magazine Restaurants Awards.
The love for cooking started for Alex at an early age of 10 when he started experimenting with different renditions of instant ramen noodles. Growing up on a durian farm in Malaysia has instated the focus on local, fresh ingredients that inspires his culinary vision today; “A respect for the past while staying both current and modern” as Alex puts it.
For Hawkers Market, Alex will be serving his famous Malaysian style prawn noodle soup in spicy pork bone broth with soft boiled egg, bean sprouts, thick and thin noodles.
All ingredients will be locally sourced; ocean wise prawns, local pork and cage free eggs.
